Academy Players Sign Modern Apprenticeships

Queen’s Park FC today announced Alex Bannon and Gregor Nicol have signed Modern Apprenticeship professional contracts.

The Modern Apprentice scheme, which takes two years to complete, is co-funded by Skills Development Scotland and The Scottish Government.  The course is set at Advanced Higher level and will offer a pathway to university at the end of the course.

Head Coach Laurie Ellis said “We are really pleased to announce the signing of another two young Modern Apprentices at Queen’s Park.

Our full-time professional environment continues to provide us with the opportunity to maximise our promising young players’ development, allowing us to offer professional contracts to train full time with our first team squad.

Both Gregor and Alex are only at the very start of their journey but if they apply themselves properly, we hope they can develop into good young players for our club.”

Graeme Shields, Director Queen’s Park commented “I am delighted to see two more of our Academy players being retained by the club under the Modern Apprenticeship scheme.  Calum Biggar and Jacques Heraghty started on the scheme last season and these latest signings demonstrate the club’s determination to offer a pathway from our youth Academy to full time professional football with Queen’s Park”.
