Airdrie v Queen's Park - Match preview
AFTER a blank weekend Queen’s Park are back in competitive action with a trip to Airdrie in the William Hill Championship.
Like the Spiders, the Diamonds were out of action last weekend, but there was movements off the field in north Lanarkshire with Rhys McCabe leaving his position as club manager.
That means former Airdrie defender Sean Crighton will face an interim trio of Aaron Taylor-Sinclair, David Hutton and Bryan Prunty – all ex-team-mates of the Spiders head coach.
The changes add an element of the unknown to the encounter, but the Spiders are nevertheless preparing for a tough match – still seeking their first win in the league, much like Airdrie.
Like the Diamonds they have earned one point from the opening two games, and even have an identical goal difference – with two scored and four conceded so far.

The Season so far...
Both Queen’s Park and Airdrie opened their league campaigns with draws.
Airdrie fought back from two goals down to draw with last season’s Premiership side Ross County, while the Spiders were pegged back ten minutes from the end at Raith Rovers and settled for a point.
On matchday two, each were defeated by a two goal margin – Airdrie away at Dunfermline 2-0, and Queen’s 3-1 at home to Arbroath.
That leaves the Spiders ninth in the table, behind Airdrie on alphabetical order with each team having one point, the same goal difference and having scored and conceded the same amount.
Since those games though there’s been a change at the Diamonds who have lost manager Rhys McCabe. The midfielder was player-manager and at one stage the youngest senior boss in Scotland, leading the club to promotion and then the Premiership play-offs in his first two seasons.
In a reversal of their current standings, Airdrie and Queen’s Park finished last season in eighth and ninth position.
