Ayr United v Queen's Park - Match Preview
SEAN CRIGHTON takes his Spiders squad to Ayr for matchday four of the William Hill Championship campaign.
Despite promising performances on the road at Raith Rovers and Airdrie, Queen’s Park are still on the look-out for their maiden league win of the season – but so are Scott Brown’s side.
Head coach Crighton commended the travelling black and white army for their backing in north Lanarkshire last weekend and is hoping for more of the same – from his team on the park and the fans off it.
The boss has added Rocco Friel, on loan from QPR, this week and the right-sided defender goes straight into the squad for possible inclusion at Somerset Park.
The trip is Queen’s third of our opening four games – and next week’s scheduled home match with Partick Thistle has been postponed.
That’s the same story for Ayr United – with Dunfermline also requesting a call-off due to international commitments, much like the Jags – so both teams are seeking a positive result heading into their unexpected break.

The Season so far...
Of the three games of the league campaign so far, Queen’s most impressive performances have come away from home.
And Tyrece McDonnell has been in the thick of the action at both.
Ten minutes away from a winning start to the season, the midfielder was harshly penalised for handball allowing Raith Rovers to snatch a point.
Three weeks later, in Airdrie, it was McDonnell’s move from the bench and his delightful curled equaliser than ensured a point against the Diamonds – probably the least the Spiders deserved last Saturday.
For Ayr, They’ve had an identical start to the Spiders – two away games, two draws and a home defeat leaving them seventh – equal on points with ninth-paced Queens but better off by a single goal in the goal difference stakes.
