QUEEN’S PARK supporters may spot some extra fans in the stand this Saturday at the match against Falkirk.
That’s because pupils from Bankhead Primary are making their trip to Hampden as part of our Tickets for Schools programme.
Henry Fieldson visited the pupils earlier this week and talked all about life as a professional player, his own school days and dreams of becoming a footballer when he was just like them.
After a warm welcome for Henry it’s time for the Spiders to welcome the pupils and they’ll be given transport to the game provided by programme partners McDades Coaches as well as Queen’s Park memorabilia to make sure they look the part
Henry said: “I remember being at school and telling my teacher my dream of becoming a footballer – it was funny being back in a classroom and being asked all the same questions I had as a kid.
“They were a brilliant group with great questions and hard-working too – so we hope to match that and will work hard to give them three points and a memorable day out this weekend.
“Supporting the Spiders is a brilliant fun experience and Queen’s Park really appreciates the close ties with the local schools in our southside community.
“Hopefully it’s not the last we see of them and they’ll be back at Hampden again before the end of the season”
Our programme for local schools in the community has seen more than 1000 pupils involved and experience a Queen’s Park game at Hampden, bringing through the fans of the future.
Pupils are also eligible for a free parent and child ticket for the following match after their visit and future benefits if they make it a hat-trick and attend three in a row.
Queen’s Park FC head of commercial, Kieran Koszary said: “Since we launched ‘Tickets for Schools’ thousands of young people have come through the turnstiles to cheer on Queen’s Park – sometimes for the first time.
“We are delighted to give this opportunity to our local schools – and the feedback we receive from the day trips and the visits from our players puts us top of the class.
“The Question-and-Answer sessions are always lively and the support from the first team squad appreciated but it doesn’t have to stop there, and we look forward to seeing the pupils back with parents, guardians and friends at matches in the future too.

The family-owned ‘Cleaning Machine People’ business PTS Clean Ltd, who are based close to Bankhead in Rutherglen, and are also club partners, are again kindly providing half-time vouchers to all the schoolchildren to get a hot drink and snack on the day.
