Bayern Munich loan Barry Hepburn to Queen’s Park

Queen’s Park’s reputation for the development of players has been backed by six times European Champions Bayern Munich who have agreed to loan, subject to international clearance, attack minded Barry Hepburn to the Spiders for the new season.

The 19-year-old wide player is no stranger to Scotland, as he was born in Stirling and has played in the national side’s colours at under-15, under-17 and under-19 level. The winger first played football for Cowie United when he was aged six and coached by his dad, before moving onto Milton FC and Scotland Boys Club before joining Celtic when he turned eight.

In 2020, after eight seasons at the Parkhead club, Hepburn headed to the Youth Academy at the Allianz Arena club where he has featured for their Bavarian Regional League side Bayern Munich II.

Hepburn’s journey will now continue on the south-side of Glasgow and he is excited about it as he explained: “I am really excited to be joining Queen’s Park. After learning about their ambition for the club, their commitment to developing young players and the style of football they want to play I feel I am in the right place to continue my development.

“I cannot wait to get started.”

Director of Football Beuker believes that Hepburn’s energy will ensure he has a successful time at the club as he explained: “Barry is an exciting player who is creative, good in the tight spaces and possesses a powerful shot. He had great experiences in the last three seasons in Germany and is looking for a season to show what he is capable of at a first team level.

“When I spoke with Barry and his family a couple of weeks ago, it was very clear that he has an incredible hunger to perform and is very determined to make an impact. That energy is something we are confident he will demonstrate in the new season.”
