Matty Shiels - Buck's Bar Player of the Month for August
CONSISTENCY was key for Buck’s Bar Player of the Month for August, Matty Shiels.
The Queen’s Park defender was rewarded with the lion’s share of the fans’ vote to take the award ahead of Tyrece McDonnell and top scorer Josh Fowler after a series of reliable defensive shifts for the Spiders across the first four league games of the William Hill Championship.
Matty is looking forward to using his prize at one of Glasgow’s four Buck’s Bar venues across the city, including in the city centre restaurant on West Regent Street, and dropped in to visit the local rock’n’roll restaurant on Cathcart Road on Monday.
He said: “Thanks to all the supporters for taking part in the vote and for supporting myself and the team throughout August. Of course, thanks too to Buck’s Bar for continuing to back the player of the month vote with the club.”
Matty was served up vouchers for a future visit as well as a plate of the Buck’s Bar signature chicken wings – with the sauce selected especially by July winner Josh Fowler.
Buck’s boasts a selection of more than 50 hot sauces from around the world, and the Peking BBQ dish was chosen by the Spiders’ striker for the next lucky recipient in September.
Each month this season we’re asking the winner to nominate the sauce for the next recipient to try when they pick up their vouchers, and Matty has already picked out September’s dish of choice when the winner is named shortly after our fixture against Partick Thistle.
He added: “The wings were delicious but I think I got off lightly from Josh – I’m not a big fan of spicy food and there were a few hotter options on the menu!
“I’ll definitely be back to try more from the menu and thanks again to everyone who voted.”
Buck’s Bar have venues across Glasgow and Edinburgh as well as St Andrews and have been supporting Queen’s Park for the past three years.
