Queen’s Park centurion Calum Ferrie has agreed a new three-year contract with the club and is now looking for the Spiders to keep on moving up during his extended stay.
The former Port Vale youngster had played in Scotland for Dundee, Stirling Albion and Falkirk before joining Queen’s Park in 2021 and helped the club secure promotion to the Championship the following year.
Calum’s form last season saw him chosen by his fellow players as the PFA Scotland Championship Goalkeeper of the Year and he marked his one-hundredth appearance for Queen’s Park on Saturday with top display of goalkeeping and a clean sheet against Morton.
Agreeing to a longer stay was an easy decision for the 25-year-old who said: “I have really enjoyed my time at the club over the last three seasons and it has felt like home. I am settled in the area and I am excited for the journey ahead.
“It is brilliant to be at a club that is on an upwards journey. It has been great to be part of it so far and it will be great to be part of it for longer. Callum Davidson and Liam Craig have come in and lifted us after a disappointing start to the season. They and the rest of the coaching staff, especially the goalkeeping coach Glen Johnson, have been great with me.
“We started the season poorly but we are looking up the table again however we are still being careful that we do not get sucked into things down at the bottom. We all want to go in the one direction, which is up, and the new management team would not have come here if they did not have those ambitions.
“I would not be signing my contract if I did not have those ambitions either.”
Head Coach Callum Davidson said: “Calum is an excellent shot-stopper and we saw that again at the weekend. He has been a key player for me since I came in. He did his job well on Saturday and I am really pleased that he marked his one hundredth game in such a good way and I am looking forward to seeing him add many more to that total.
“Goalkeepers thrive on confidence and Calum has that just now. It was an easy decision to make when it came to asking him to stay longer.”
Queen’s Park President Graeme Shields added: “I was delighted when Calum agreed to a new contract. His worth to the team was evident on Saturday with his man of the match performance. Calum sets himself high standards and he not only meets them but usually surpasses them.”
