Captain’s armband Takes Pride of Place

EUAN MURRAY’S winning captain’s armband sits pride of place in Ross Hunter’s gaming set-up.

The 13-year-old, who attends Cathkin High School, was the lucky recipient after the 2-1 win over Raith Rovers ended our long wait for a home win in the William Hill Championship – and delivered a first league victory at The city Stadium.

And the special memento takes pride of place amongst the Spiders supporter’s football memorabilia – he’s also a huge  West ham fan.

For that reason his favourite player is fellow Hammer Charlie Fox, as well as Josh Fowler, and not only is Ross a regular at Queen’s Park games, he’s also a season ticket for the London Stadium too.

“We go down as often as we can,” mum Lorraine explains. “This is the first year we have had a season ticket.

“He has lots of West Ham shirts in frames but Euan’s armband is pride of place, right in the middle and Ross has already told me he neds to have it framed too.”

Ross, who has autism, has been following Queen’s Park for four years, first heading to games with uncle Dougie during our stay in Stenhousemuir.

He’s followed the club back to the southside, at Hampden through to The city Stadium this season.

Lorraine added: “Queen’s Park have made him so comfortable and have really been great with him. He had tried football elsewhere and hadn’t enjoyed it but Douglas encouraged him to try Queen’s Park and he hasn’t looked back.

“It’s a great initiative the club and QPSA have started with the armband and Ross has been absolutely delighted since Euan handed it over.”

Keep an eye out for Euan, or recently appointed vice-captain Louis Longridge at the end of each game this season and you too could be picking up a special matchworn gift to take home.
