Connor Shields February cinch Player of the Month

A fantastic four goal first month as a Spider for Connor Shields was rounded off in the fine style with the Queen’s Park striker being named as the cinch Championship Player of the Month for February.

The goal-grabber joined the club on loan from Motherwell at the end of January and after helping his new side to a win over Ayr United on his debut the 25-year-old scored against Morton and Raith Rovers before ending the month with a double against Hamilton Accies.

Connor said: “I have enjoyed being a Queen’s Park player and it is great to be recognised so early into my time here. Winning a high-profile game against Ayr and then scoring in the next three has certainly helped me settle in.”

“Queen’s are a team that like to attack and to attack with pace and that has helped me find the net. The two goals at Hamilton were probably my favourites as the build up play from the team was really good.”

“I would like to think I have built a good platform here for what should be an exciting end to the season for everyone at the club.”

Queen’s Park’s Head Coach Owen Coyle added: “I knew Connor would help us at the top end of the pitch when I brought him in and he has done that. He has been on the receiving end of some good set-up play but as a striker myself, I know that getting the ball over the line is not always easy.”
