QUEEN’S PARK FC is delighted to announce the arrival of goalkeeper David Mitchell to the Spiders – subject to SFA clearance.
Following Calum Ferrie’s move to Kilmarnock last week, Sean Crighton moved quickly to add the experienced 36-year-old to the first-team squad at The city Stadium.
The goalkeeper has experience across all four divisions in the SPFL and spent last season at Ayr United, where he added 22 appearances to his extensive career total of 424 games.
David met up with his new team-mates on Monday after looking round the facilities at Lochinch last week.
David said: “As soon as I learned of this opportunity I was excited and I’m looking forward to getting going.
“When the manager called me I was keen to pursue it straight away and jumped at it. I wanted to make it happen.
“It’s massive for any player to come to any club and have facilities like we do. Even playing as an away player last season at The city Stadium, the away dressing room is different level and I’m really looking forward to getting to work here.
“I’ve played with quite a few of the players here, they’re all good people first and foremost and that’s important so I’m looking forward to getting to know them again and work with the others. I know it’s a close group and I’m excited to get started.”
First-team manager Sean Crighton said: “After Calum moved on to follow his Premiership ambitions it was important we brought in an experienced goalkeeper to help challenge and bring on our existing goalkeepers Jack, Milosz and Archie.
“David fit the bill and brings an extensive experience across all divisions in Scotland, but particularly in the Championship.
“He is someone I know of, and have played against, and he has fit in well around the training base already. He is someone many of the guys in the dressing room know too given how much he has played in his career.
“We’re delighted to have him on board working with our goalkeeping coach David Scott and his knowledge and experience will be invaluable to Jack, Milosz and Archie coming through too.”
