Dunfermline Athletic v Queen’s Park – Robin’s View

Queen's Park travel to Dunfermline Athletic's East End Park for the first time in league duty since 1986/87 although the Spiders have a happy memory of a more recent match at the Fife ground.

In May 2022 a last-minute goal from Simon Murray earned the visitors a 1-0 play-off semi final aggregate success that helped set up a promotion party at Airdrie the following weekend.

The Black and Whites last league success at Dunfermline was a 3-0 Division Two opening day win in season 1978/79, or in other words a fine win in Queen’s Park’s first league outing since the World Cup in Argentina!

Head Coach Robin Veldman spoke to QPTV about the match with Dunfermline.

Robin covered:

  • A compliment from Holland.
  • What has been created is amazing for us.
  • What is your impact/desire?
  • We need to be physical.
  • Reflecting and being honest with a good group.

The cinch Championship so far
The hosts are sitting in fourth place on 18 points having won five of their cinch Championship games so far, with Veldman’s side four places below on 13. The Pars have won three and lost three on home turf with Queen’s looking to secure their first away success since beating Arbroath five trips ago.

Both sides have suffered recent disappointments against Raith Rovers with Dunfermline exiting the Scottish Cup at the hands of their Fife neighbours last weekend before picking up a 3-0 Championship success against Arbroath midweek.

Squad News
