QUEEN’S PARK’S role as the pioneers of modern football is well documented.
The game as we know it is rooted in the local area on the southside of Glasgow and here at Scotland’s oldest football club.
Our proud history is central to what is now known as ‘Football’s Square Mile’ which includes plaques marking key spots around Hampden and our local community which led to the formation of the beautiful game.
Glasgow Football Tours operate walking visits to each of the vital sites that helped create the game we know and love, right here on the club’s doorstep – and Queen’s Park is central to that story.
The groups begin where it all began so long ago – at Queen’s Park recreational ground, not far from our current home at The city Stadium, and stops by various locations telling the fascinating story of our club and how organised association football came to be.
Now, the story of Queen’s Park FC is being brought up to date by the tour guides and the club with a special partnership.
Tours on matchday mornings now end in our very own Bar 1867. Each walking tour lasts two and a half hours and will visit:
- Queen’s Park Recreation Ground
- The Hampden Bowling Club (First Hampden Park) – The 1st Hampden Mural (Scotland 5-1 England, 11th March 1882)
- Cathkin Park (Second Hampden Park) – Abandoned stadium with original terracing
- The National Stadium, Hampden Park (the Third)
- The city Stadium (Lesser Hampden) – *matchdays only.
Prices for each tour are:

- Concession £14
- Under 16s £6
