Gardner Speirs Leaves Queen’s Park

Queen’s Park can today announce that Gardner Speirs, who has been associated with the club for nearly 16 years in a number of roles, has left The Spiders.

After a period as manager of Clyde and assistant manager spells at Aberdeen, Ross County and Partick Thistle, Gardner initially joined Queen’s Park to replace Billy Stark as Head Coach in January 2008.

During his time in charge Gardner led the club to second in Division Three once, third place twice, and fourth position once before leaving in December 2013.

As Head Coach, Gardner placed his trust in youth and he gave debuts to many a player including Barry Douglas, Paul McGinn, Andrew Robertson and Lawrence Shankland who have all gone on to play for Scotland.

Gardner returned to the club in 2016 to work as our Head of Youth before moving onto the role of Director of the Academy.

Club President David Hunter said: “On behalf of everyone at Queen’s Park, I would like to offer sincere thanks to Gardner for his years of service to the club. He has taken on a number of different roles for us, and has been a huge help to the coaching staff who have recently joined our new Academy.

“Gardner leaves Queen’s Park with our very best wishes for the future.”
