Queen’s Park’s Head of Goalkeeping Glen Johnson is to leave the club with the coach, who has helped Calum Ferrie be recognised as the best shot-stopper in the Championship for two consecutive seasons admitting that he is doing so with a heavy heart.
Essex born Glen joined the Spiders in 2021 and brought with him a number of imaginative ideas and training methods that have benefitted goalkeepers throughout Queen’s Park, and he is moving on with some sadness.
Glen explained: “I have thoroughly enjoyed my time in Scotland with Queen’s Park however at this time I have to put my family first. They are based near Manchester and being away from them for three years has not always been easy and just now is the right time to leave.
“I spoke to both the club’s Head Coach Callum Davidson and the President Graeme Shields about this decision and they have been very understanding. The club means the world to me, and I hope that the goalkeepers led by Calum Ferrie continue to develop positively.”
Callum Davidson added: “I have only worked with Glen since the start of this year, but I have enjoyed it. I am sure that he will get another club closer to home and do great work there as well.”
