Goalkeeper Jack Wills enjoyed his loan spell at Queen’s Park last season so much that he had no hesitation in agreeing to becoming a Spider permanently this week on a two-year contract.
The 21-year-old joined Queen’s on loan from St Johnstone back in February until the end of season 2023/ 24 and Jack, who had similar temporary spells with Edinburgh University and Brechin City, picked up a Reserve League Winners’ medal as well as providing cover for Calum Ferrie during that short stint.
Jack is now looking to build on the start he has made with the club as he explained: “I really enjoyed my time here and it was an easy decision to make when I was asked to come back.
“I know how well Calum has played at the club, but I want to push both him and myself on. I want to make it a hard decision over who plays and hopefully I will get myself in the team and show what I can do to try and get established.”
Jack added: “Before I came to Queen’s Park, I had been out injured for six months so coming here and playing Reserve football and being involved with the first team was good. I enjoyed the training and being here gave me my confidence back.
“It is also a very good dressing room so, all in all, an easy decision to make.”
Queen’s boss Callum Davidson said: “Jack impressed everyone during his time here. He came in with a few months of the season to go and went about his work diligently and professionally.
“As soon as I knew that he could return here as a signed Queen’s Park player we started making moves to make it happen. He will put pressure on me over his selection I am sure of that, and I look forward to being in that situation.”
Director of Football Darren O’Donnell said: “I am delighted that Jack has now signed on a permanent basis after impressing whilst on loan last season. Jack fits the profile of the player we want at the club, and I am looking forward to watching his progress at Queen’s Park.”
