Linlithgow Rose v Queen's Park - match preview
QUEEN’S PARK begin the Scottish Gas Scottish Cup campaign with an away trip to West Lothian in the third round.
For the second week running, the Spiders are the focus of the BBC Scotland cameras as Sean Crighton’s side take on Lowland League outfit Linlithgow Rose at MV Commercial Prestonfield.
The hosts are riding high in their league, and drew 1-1 with table-toppers Clydebank at the weekend.
Queen’s Park on the other hand haven’t played since a trip to Perth a fortnight ago where an almighty comeback almost overturned a 3-0 half-time deficit, only to lose by the odd goal in seven.
The eyes of the nation will be on this week’s instalment of Friday night football, and it’s a trip into the unknown for many of the young Queen’s Park players to face Gordon Herd’s side.

Perhaps it’s better to look back at last season’s Scottish Cup campaign since this is the first match of this season’s adventure in the competition.
Of course the headline result of the competition, Queen’s campaign, and perhaps the entire season came at Ibrox on February 9.
Seb Drozd scored one of the biggest Scottish Cup upsets ever in the 69th minute of the match to hand the SPiders a memorable victory – and Cal Ferrie played a pretty big hand with a striong of important saves including an injury time penalty against James Tavernier.

Prior to the giant-killing result for the ages, Queen’s drew with Partick Thistle and edged through on penalties last November, and then saw off Montrose after extra-time.
The cup run ended in Aberdeen with a 4-1 defeat in March that also doubled as Aiden McGinlay’s senior debut.
Linlithgow have scored twice in both their wins in the Scottish Gas Scottish Cup this season – 2-1 against Gala Fairydean and 2-0 away at near neighbours Bo’ness Athletic.
Last season before the Spiders were performing Ibrox heroics, Rose went out at this stage of the competition – again facing Championship opposition.
Euan Murray started and Aidan Connolly played off the bench as Raith Rovers won 4-0 at Prestonfield.
