Loan Report: Cole is quick off the mark

COLE BURKE made an instant impact on loan at Cumnock.

The defender completed a loan move just hours before kick-off against Dalbeattie Star.

Just 19 minutes into his start he opened the scoring for the Ayrshire side who also had Oliver Fisher on loan last term.

It proved a winning start as well as a scoring one for Cole with the ‘Nock recording a 5-1 away win.

Lennox Quail has also followed his Spiders youth team-mate out on loan in Ayrshire, and Quail started as a substitute as new side Darvel won 4-2 against Gartcairn in the Strathclyde Demolition West of Scotland League Cup. Ex-Spider Mason Davies was also named on the bench by boss Nacho Novo.

Caiden Adams was on the scoresheet as Thorn Athletic defeated Glasgow Perthshire 6-2 in the second round of the West of Scotland Cup

Josiah Sowa played an hour of Dumbarton’s 3-1 defeat to Stranraer in William Hill League Two.

Back in the Lowland League, Archie Aitchison was a substitute as Gretna 2008 ran title hopefuls Pollok close in a 3-2 defeat at Raydale Park – only beaten by an injury-time winner.

Fellow goalkeeper Milosz Sliwinski also watched on as Annan Athletic won 2-0 against Elgin City at Galabank. Sliwinski did see action midweek in the KDM Evolution Trophy in a 4-0 win over Motherwell B.

Also during the week Ben Brannan played 90 minutes for Kilmarnock B in a 2-1 away win at Cowdenbeath.

Sean Crighton and Jim Duffy took in Stirling Albion’s 3-2 win over Rangers B – where the young Gers captain Aiden McCallion scored two penalties. Lewis Stewart started and Zebedee Lawson played off the bench at Forthbank.

Darryl Carrick and Lewis Smith continue to recover from injury while at Annan and Arthurlie respectively.

From the Spiders under-19s squad, AJ Doyle will be in southside action with loan side Renfrew when they visit Pollok at Newlandsfield on Wednesday evening.
