LEWIS SMITH had a quick turnaround signing a loan deal and making a weekend debut for Arthurlie in the Scottish Communities Cup.
The Spiders under-19s captain will gain valuable experience on loan with the Barrhead side for the remainder of the season, coupled with the CAS League and Cup campaigns for Queen’s Park.
His first experience with his new side was a trip to Vale of Leven which went all the way, as the home side knocked the ‘Lie out of the second round 4-2 on penalties after a 2-2 draw.
Darryl Carrick played 90 minutes for Annan Athletic in the Galabankies’ 1-0 defeat to Edinburgh City in the capital. The on-loan defender was also yellow carded in the second half. Milosz Sliwinski was an unused sub.
Josiah Sowa was a late substitute for Dumbarton in the Sons’ 3-1 defeat at Kelty Hearts. Dumbarton are ninth in League Two with three points from the first four games.
In the Lowland League west, Alex Eguague started in Albion Rovers’ 3-1 loss at home to table-topping Auchinleck Talbot. He was substituted for Dean Rhapopozzoh with 20 minutes to play and following the visitors’ third goal.
Goalkeeper Archie Aitchison was named man of the match for the visitors at Holm Park despite Gretna going down to a heavy defeat at Clydebank.
The Spiders on loan are expected to feature in more KDM Evolution Trophy matches this week, as well as Lewis Stewart, Zeb Lawson and Aiden McCallion for Rangers B.
