Louis Longridge signs up for Magnificent Seventh season at Queen’s Park

LONG-SERVING Louis Longridge is the latest player to sign up for the new season at Queen’s Park.

Our 2026-27 William Hill Championship campaign will mark a magnificent seventh for our number seven.

Louis joined the club in League Two and has been with us all the way through the league and play-off wins and consolidation in the second tier for five consecutive years.

Sean Crighton handed the Spiders stalwart the vice captaincy during last season, and has been delighted to recruit another experienced figure in his squad.

The first-team manager said: “Louis was one of our most consistent players last season – even though we had asked him to take on a new position.

“His willingness, and ability, to learn and adapt speaks volumes. Even aged 34 he’s still learning something new and he was another key figure in the squad on and off the park last season who I was determined to re-sign.

“Louis’ commitment to this club is there for all to see, but so too was his fitness as he appeared in all but one game for the first-team while continuing to coach the youth teams at the club.”

Louis, who sealed his deal earlier this month before the start of his A licence coaching course at The Oriam, enjoyed a walk down memory lane and added: “This is a very special club for me.

“I joined way back in 2020 – it seems a long time ago now but I joined to help the team up through the leagues and we have done that.

“We’ve come close to Premiership promotion, won leagues and promotion play-offs and I have enjoyed every minute at this special club.

“I managed to play in just about every match last season – my sixth at the club where we finished sixth in the Championship – which was a great achievement.

“Now I’m ready and excited for my seventh. It has ben an honour and privilege to play for Queen’s Park and I can’t wait to get restarted.”

This season could include a milestone moment for Longridge, as well as being his magnificent seventh.

The veteran began his senior career at Hamilton Academical, before moving on to Raith Rovers, Dunfermline Athletic, Falkirk and then the Spiders.

That career sees him close to a total of 500 senior appearances having surpassed the 200-game mark for Queen’s Park last term.

Further updates on Sean Crighton’s first team squad will be published in due course.
