The third of the brightest talents to emerge from the Queen’s Park Academy to agree an extended contract this week was striker Lucas McCormack who has agreed a year-long deal with the option of a second year running to the summer of 2026.
The 19-year-old joined the Queen’s Park Academy over a decade ago and after impressing with the Academy Under 18s he signed a signed a two-year professional apprentice contract in 2022.
Lucas made his first top-team appearance as a substitute in a Championship game against Ayr United back in September before making his first start in an SPFL Trust Trophy tie away to Falkirk the following month.
Lucas has added to those two appearances with four substitute outings and he said: “I have really enjoyed my involvement in the first team. This is a club that will give young players a chance and I am looking forward to becoming an established first team squad member during the time of my contract.”
Club President Graeme Shields said: “It is nice to round off a hat-trick of signings from Queen’s Park Academy players with Lucas who, despite being only 19, already has been with the club for a long time.
“Lucas has the chance to become a first team player here and I am looking forward to seeing how he gets on.”
