Match Preview: Arbroath vs Queen’s Park

In the only cinch Championship fixture of the afternoon the Spiders head to Angus to take on Dick Campbell's Arbroath for the second week running.

ROBIN VELDMAN’S THOUGHTS

“It’s obviously pretty unique to be playing the same side two weeks in a row but the switching of this tie made sense. It is good for the supporters to be able to come and watch the game on a Saturday afternoon instead of a Tuesday night. From a footballing perspective it also makes sense and allows us to have an optimised programme, instead of a free weekend so it was good that the clubs agreed on the change.

“We expect a different game from last week with both sides now knowing a lot more about each other. Arbroath are obviously now the home team and will prepare differently. It’s up to us to find the right answers to the challenge we will face.

“Last week’s win was pleasing, including the reaction to losing the goal however we need to make sure that when we are dominating a game, we don’t cause ourselves these types of problems. We expect this group of players to be winning football games in a certain way and not just creating chances.

“The impact the substitutes made last week was very good and it’s important that those players know that they can also be starters. The opportunities are there for these players to demonstrate they can be in the starting 11 and some of them are already pushing for this.

“Squad wise we will be without Aaron Healy who misses out through injury.”
