Match Preview: Peterhead v Queen’s Park

The Spiders make the near 400 mile round trip to Peterhead this afternoon look to build on last Saturday’s late win at home to East Fife, with the play-offs just around the corner.

Ahead of the game the club media team spoke to First Team Coach John Potter to get his thoughts.

John said: “We’re looking forward to the game and it’s one that we are going up there to try and win. On the back of securing a play-off spot last week, which was great, we have had a good week in training and the focus is now to finish as high as we can in the table. We know that if we are to have a chance of doing that we’ll need to win our remaining games, starting at Peterhead.”

“With three games to go before the play-offs start, it’s massively important that we look to continue building momentum. We have a bit of that just now with recent results and we know the importance of building on that and continuing to pick up the results we desire. We want and need that momentum going into the play-offs and if we can get a win on Saturday that will go a long way to helping us in that regard.”

“We know Peterhead are a good team and Balmoor is never an easy place to go. We have done our homework on them and I’ve watched a lot of their recent games. We expect a difficult game but we know that our focus has to be on how we approach the game and what we do in it. We know what we are going into and we know what we need to do to get the win, and I’m sure the players will be well up for the challenge.”

“We have a good squad and in amongst that we have guys working very hard waiting for their chance. With some niggling injuries this might be an opportunity for one or two to come in and stake their claim for a jersey as we head into the business end of the season.”
