Match Preview: Queen’s Park v Airdrieonians

With Dunfermline taken care of, the play-off finals are now here and our season rests on 180 minutes against Airdieonians tonight and on Sunday afternoon. With a place in the Championship at stake, it’s all to play for under the lights and in front of the TV cameras at Firhill this evening.

Ahead of the game First Team Coach John Potter gave his thoughts to the club media team.

John said: “We are massively looking forward to tomorrow night. We were obviously delighted to get passed Dunfermline over the two legs and that has set us up nicely for this one. We knew it wouldn’t be easy and that proved to be the case but we acquitted ourselves well and done what we needed to do.”

“It was very pleasing to have kept clean sheets in both legs of the semi-final, something which I feel we have not had enough of during my time at the club. We defended very well and we know we will need to do the same in the next two games.”

“We now have another difficult double header against a strong Airdrie side who have had a very good season, and we will give them the respect they deserve. That said, we will go into this one high in confidence and with plenty of options throughout the squad. It goes without saying but we are going into tomorrow night’s game to win it. We have players that can create opportunities and who can score goals.”

“Having played each other on so many occasions already this season it’s safe to say we probably know everything about them in the same way they’ll know everything about us. It will come down to who handles the occasion better and we want to do what do, in order to ensure that that is us. If we can play to our strengths, we would back ourselves to get the result we want.”

“Once again, like last week, the supporters will be massive for us. The players really do get a lift from them in moments of the game both when we are struggling and when we are on top. We saw the real togetherness when we got the goal and at full time on Saturday and we would love to see more of that. The supporters genuinely can be a huge help to the players and I hope to see them out in their numbers to back us once again this week.”
