Match Preview: Queen’s Park v Partick Thistle – Sun 2 Mar 25

Queen’s Park will host Partick Thistle tomorrow at Ochilview Park in the final pre-split match in the SWPL 1. Kick off at 12pm. Although, both sides will face each other two more times, once home and once away in the split on the 16th of April and the 14th of May.

The Spiders currently sit one place from the bottom of the table and will be looking to achieve a positive result against Patrick Thistle. Their previous meeting, hit by strong winds in October at Petershill Park, ended in a hard-fought 2-0 win for the hosts despite both teams putting on a positive display.

Brian Graham’s side come into the game having only won one of their last five matches., most recently losing 6-0 against Rangers. The Jags missed out on a top 6 spot for the first time in 3 seasons and will be adamant they have a point to prove between now and the end of the season.

The Spiders will be in good confidence despite losing their last two, having showcased positive performances against both Hibernian and Hearts. Looking ahead to the game, Head Coach Iain Robinson said: “The staff and players are confident moving on to Sunday’s fixture against Partick Thistle. The international break has allowed us to get some players back fit and rest any niggles for others so the squad.

“The squad are looking fitter and sharper as the weeks progress and we’re excited about Sunday’s fixture as we complete our final fixture before the split. It’ll be a difficult fixture against a tough opponent but if we get it right tactically and players perform to the levels we know they can then we feel confident we can get a positive result.”
