SPIDERS star Jack Turner switched their black and white shirt for the black and white boards of the classroom as he headed to visit the latest school in our Tickets for Schools initiative.
The long-running programme supported by our partners at McDades Coaches has seen more than 1500 pupils attend Queen’s Park home games with their school friends and class-mates over the past four seasons.
Not only that, during the week the children are treated to a visit from one of the first-team players from Callum Davidson’s squad at the school to preview the match and talk over everything it takes to be a footballer.
This week, Jack Turner, dropped in to see the kids and staff at Mearns Primary with a visit to the National Stadium at Hampden Park in store this weekend.
Jack said: “I can’t wait to see the boys and girls again when they come to Hampden to cheer on the team – they, and all the staff, made me feel really welcome at their school.
“We had a great chat and a fun visit and I’m sure they’ll make a lot of noise in backing the team and hopefully it is not the last we see of them either!
“Tickets for Schools is a great way to get to a game with your friends – even if you’ve not been to one before.
“We’ll do our best to give them plenty to cheer about but it’s certain to be a fun day out for them all.”
And to make sure they look the part, scarves and t-shirts are available to show the school Spiders support too.
All pupils who take part will also be granted a FREE parent and child ticket for the next Queen’s Park home game after their school visit – and anyone who returns for a third time and hits a hat-trick will net a special gift or Spiders experience as a benefit.
Head of Commercial at Queen’s Park FC, Kieran Koszary added: “Our ‘Tickets for Schools’ programme has been a massive success and continues to bring big smiles to supporters of the future.
“Some may never have been to a football match before but in meeting the players and then seeing them in action it has been a great initiative for the club and one we are very proud of.
“We couldn’t do it without the players – who all seem to enjoy meeting the young fans – and the support of the staff and schools.
“We are keen to continue these close community relations with our fans of the future and thank McDades coaches for their ongoing support in the programme in transporting the pupils to the games.”
