QUEEN’S PARK women are one step away from promotion back to the SWPL top flight after defeating Kilmarnock for the second time in two weeks.
The Ayrshire side were title hopefuls themselves but the Spiders denied their move up on the final day of the season with a 2-0 win – earning a promotion play-off place in the process.
After defeating Boroughmuir Thistle in that midweek play-off, Ross Stormonth’s side headed to Cumnock’s Townhead Park for a play-off semi-final with Killie again – and repeated their result with a win in extra-time, thanks to substitute Rosie McQuillan’s goal.
She lifted the ball over the Killie keeper just two minutes into extra-time after great work by Sophie Rutherford.
It proved enough to take the tie and set-up a promotion play-off final with Aberdeen on Friday.
The match takes place at The Albert Bartlett Stadium in Airdrie, kick off 7.35pm. Entry is by ticket only and tickets must be bought online in advance via Fanbase.
Adult entry is £8 with under-16s, and concession tickets, priced at £2.
