Queen’s Park have secured the services of goal-grabber Ruari Paton on a three-year contract with Spiders’ Director of Football Marijn Beuker believing that the 25 goals the 22-year-old scored for Queen of the South last season was only an indication of his potential.
Dublin born Paton came through the youth ranks at Hibs and had a loan spell at Gala Fairydean Rovers before playing for East Kilbride and Stranraer ahead of finding the net regularly in his 46 games for the Doonhamers.

The attacker was the only player outwith the top three clubs in League One last season to be picked for the PFA Scotland Team of the year and Beuker is delighted to have him on board as he explained: “Ruari is a dynamic and energetic striker who has just had a fantastic season, however we think that there is still a lot of potential within him to further develop. We were watching him carefully for large parts of last season and he convinced us to bring him here due to the qualities he has. He has also proven that he can score goals from different angles.
“Besides the qualities he possesses on the football pitch, he is a real winner. You can see from all his actions that he wants to get the most out of every day. That is a mentality that fits very well with the direction that this club is going in.”
Paton said: “I am so pleased to finally get this deal done. The project here at Queen’s Park has made me very excited for the future. I am proud to be at such a great club with a clear vision. I am looking forward to going out and performing in the new season.”
