Despite the wee Spiders taking the lead it was the Ayrshire team who took all three points back down the M77 in Friday's CAS Elite League game at Lochinch.
The first real sign of winter with a cold blustery afternoon for football at Lochinch.
Kilmarnock kicked off and started on the front foot. Two minutes into the game Killie’s Grant Marchant stepped onto a through ball and hit a low shot which narrowly missed its target.
In the eighth minute Kilmarnock had the ball in the net only to see the stand side assistant referee raise his flag for offside.
After an initial period of intense pressure from the Ayrshire side, Queen’s began to make inroads into the opposition half. William Thomson and Sam Maclachlan begin to see more of the ball and use it very effectively.
In the 13th minute the Wee Spiders opened the scoring. Exploiting the spaces on the wings, the ball was played down the right to Leo Clark, who raced to the bye line before cutting the ball back to the edge of the six-yard box for Sam Maclachlan to knock the ball past the keeper into the net.
In the 29th minute Duncan Barlow picked the ball up wide left, cut inside and fired the ball into the far corner of the net from an acute angle to equalise for Kilmarnock.
A minute later and the Ayrshire side added a second. Killie’s Grant Marchant sped past the Queen’s back line to drill the ball low into the net from 12 yards out.
Just on half-time the ball was played through for Godspower Oguama to reach but Ben Coutts, in goal for Killie, smothered the ball before he could get to it.

Kilmarnock, as in the first half, took control of the game from the off. Queen’s keeper,Milosz Sliwinski, had to look lively on more than one occasion as the Ayrshire men delivered long crosses deep into the Queen’s six-yard box.
Killie increased their lead in the 60th minute when Cole Burke knocked a low cross from Reuban Cooper into the net from five yards out.
The Wee Spiders best chance of the day came in the 79th minute when Matthew Murray-Smith evaded his defender, was through on goal, but his shot narrowly missed the post.
Kilmarnock responded with a goal by Reuban Cooper a minute later followed by two late goals from corners to round off a thoroughly miserable day for the young Spiders.
