A penalty double by Lucas McCormick ensured that Queen's took all three points against Inverness Caley Thistle in yesterday's CAS Performance Tier League game at Lochinch.
A damp and blustery Lochinch was the venue for yesterday’s CAS Performance Tier league game between Queen’s Park and Inverness Caley Thistle.
In the first minute a strong run down the right by Lennon Connolly resulted in a cross into the Inverness box. The initial attack was effectively dealt with by the Inverness defence and Lucas McCormick forced a corner. From the cross, Josh Howe had a shot from the edge of the box which was confidently gathered by the keeper
Despite have a strong wind in their face Inverness then took charge of the opening ten minutes. They dominated possession and forced Queen’s back. Callan McKenna had to look lively to deal with a couple of shots during this period.

In the 19th minute Queen’s had their first real attempt on goal. Jojo Smith attacked down the right wing, and played the ball inside to Lennon Connolly, who beat his defender, then shot on goal only to see the keeper block his attempt.

This attack spurred the young Spiders on. They were now beginning to move the ball at pace and with purpose.
Two minutes later Lucas McCormck beat two defenders before narrowly missing the far post with his shot.
Queen’s were now on top of the game and creating chances. In the 25th minute after great recovery play by Queen’s trialist (No 8) who then turned and played Timam Scott in with a superb pass. Timam got to the bye line and hit across which was just too long.
In the 27th minute Queen’s were awarded a penalty when Jojo Smith was brought down right on the bye line. LUCAS McCORMICK stepped up and sent the keeper the wrong way to open the scoring.

Queen’s continued to dominate the game with Euan Ross and trialist (No 8) controlling the midfield, playing the ball into space for Queen’s forward to run onto.

Although Queen’s had most of the possession, Inverness looked dangerous on the break. In the 32nd minute Callan McKenna had to move fast to block a shot for 12 yards out.
In the 39th minute Euan Ross had a superb shot from just outside the box which brought out an equally superb save from the Inverness keeper.

One minute into the second half, Lennon Connolly drove through the Inverness defence before playing the ball wide right to Timam Scott. Timam raced past a defender and had a shot which unfortunately hit the post

Inverness responded and put Queen’s under pressure for a period. They had a couple of shots but none which really threatened the Spiders defence.
The game continued with both sides attacking. Jojo Smith was getting space on the right and he took advantage to get to the bye line and put in a few crosses for the advancing Queen’s forwards.

Inverness equalised in the 62nd minute when their number 11 met a cross from the right and smashed the ball into the net from 8 yards out.

Four minutes later Queen’s made a triple substitution replacing Connolly, Howe and Ross with Trialist (No 16), McVey and Lickrish.
Queen’s continued to press for the winning goal. Dom Brady was exploiting space down the left to get crosses into the Inverness box.
In the 81st minute Queen’s replaced Scott with Trialist (No 14).
One minute later Dom Brady has a good chance to take the lead. Trialist (no 8) dribbled his way through the Inverness midfield before releasing Dom on the left. Dom’ shot was well blocked by the Inverness keeper.

Just when it looked like the game would finish all square, Luke Lickrish was brought down by the Inverness keeper.
LUCAS McCORMICK stepped up and converted his second penalty of the game to win the game for Queen’s
