A late penalty conversion by Ellie Kane secured a point for Queen's in their first SWLP2 home game of 2022.
Kilmarnock kicked off and took the game to Queen’s right from the start.
They won a free kick, just outside Queen’s penalty box, after 2 minutes, but the resultant shot went harmlessly over the bar.
The pressure from Killie in the opening 20 minutes was relentless, with Queen’s unable to get out of their half. Kilmarnock were using the width of the park, in particular, to get behind the Queen’s defence but Sarah Rhind, in goal for Queen’s, was equal to any of their shots.

In the 29th minute Kilmarnock opened the scoring. Monica Harty drove down the left side before hitting a low shot past Sarah Rhind in the net.

Queen’s got a free kick in the 43rd minute wide left. But the cross was to near the Kilmarnock keeper who held onto the ball.

Kilmarnock continued taking the game to Queen’s at the start of the second half. Queen’s had their back to the wall, with very few ventures into the Killie half.
In the 59th minute, a fast break by Rachel Connor, from well inside her own half, down the left wing, saw the ball being played into the middle of the Kilmarnock box for Nicole Cairney to back heel the ball into the net. A well created and finished goal.

Thirteen minutes later Kilmarnock were awarded a penalty. Alex Middleton converted but was ordered to re-take. Sarah Rhind saved the first re-take, only for the referee to order another re-take. Once more Alex took the penalty only for Sarah to push the ball past the post for a corner.

From corner the cross was blocked on the line only for the triple penalty taker Alex Middleton to fire the loose ball into the net.

Queen’s fought back and were awarded a penalty 89th minute. Elle Kane stepped up and converted to draw the game.
