Despite taking a 2 goal lead, Queen’s had to score three minutes from time to take the game to penalties.
Both Lisa Sallis and Hannah Cairns scored their first Spiders goals.
Louse Cameron came on to make her Spiders debut in the second half.
Despite losing the penalty shoot-out , 3-1, Queen’s finished 10th in the Sky Sports Cup league and will play Livingston in the round 2 play-off.
Assistant coach Craig Livie, in charge for the day, made four changes to the starting eleven from Wednesday night’s game against Boroughmuir Thistle. Jasmine McPhie, Zoe Mooney, Rachel Wright and Lila Sallis replaced Natalie Angelini, Evie Swann, Rose McQuillan and Summer Thomson.
Queen’s started the game well, pushing Dundee United back with Ellie Kane, Murron Cunningham and Hannah Cairns coming close.
Just when it looked like deadlock at the interval, Lila Sallis opened the scoring for the Spider in the 45th minute.
Murron Cunningham intercepted a United throw-in, heading the ball to Darcy Molley. Darcy played the ball deep down the right wing, where Ellie Kane beat the United defender at the bye-line and cut the ball back to Rebecca McAllister. Rebecca’s shot was blocked with the ball rebounding to LILA SALLIS. Lila hit an unstoppable shot past the Dundee United keeper high into the corner the net. A very well struck goal.

Evie Swann replaced Charley Dickson at the interval.
Three minutes into the second half, ELLIE KANE added a second.
Rebecca McAllister delivered a corner from the right into the Dundee United box for Ellie to knock home from 12 yards out.
United immediately responded with a goal one minute later.
The ball was played down United’s left wing where it was delivered into the Queen’s box for STEFFI SIMPSON to meet and volley the ball home from four yards out.
That goal energised Dundee United, they upped their pace and effort and took the game to Queen’s.
Murron Cunningham, who was struggling with a knee injury, was replaced by Spiders debutant Louise Cameron.
Dundee United equalised in the 64th minute when corner from the right was delivered to the back post for STEFFI SIMPSON to hit the ball home from the edge of the Queen’s six yard box.
Queen’s then brought club captain, Abby Callaghan, on for the first time this season, in an attempt to get back in the lead, replacing Rachel Wright.
Dundee United were certainly now in the ascendancy and took the lead in the 70th minute.
A corner from the right was met by LILY PARK who hit the ball home from 12 yards out.
Queen’s, who had been off the pace for most of the second half, responded and began to make in-roads into the opposition half.
Hannah Cairns was having a lot of space down the left wing, getting behind the United defenders with her pace. She cut inside a number of times and had a shot on goal without any real effect.
Three minutes from full-time another pacy run from Hannah did have an effect.
The ball was played out of the Queen’s defence to Darcy who played the ball first-time to HANNAH CAIRNS, just inside the United half. She raced beyond the United defender, cut inside and this time placed a very accurate ball low into the far corner of the net to take the score to 3-3.

The game finished 3-3 which meant penalties for the bonus point. Dundee United won the shoot-out 3-1.
As queen’s finished 10th in the Group, they will now play Livingston in the play-off for a place in Round Two.
