Queen’s Park appoint Robin Veldman as new Head Coach

Queen’s Park FC is delighted to announce the appointment of Robin Veldman as our new Head Coach of the Men’s First Team. Subject to visa requirements, the 37-year-old Dutchman has agreed a three-year contract with Scotland’s oldest club.

Veldman’s coaching experience includes spells with SC Heerenveen, AFC Ajax and RSC Anderlecht. As the Head Coach of RSC Anderlecht’s Future Side, they achieved promotion to the Challenger Pro League, the second tier of Belgium Football, and also won the Belgium Reserve League Cup. In October 2022 he was asked to become the Head Coach of RSC Anderlecht’s First Team on an interim basis, and helped the team compete in the UEFA Conference League and Belgium Cup.

Queen’s Park Chief Executive Leeann Dempster said: “We are pleased we’ve been able to bring Robin to Glasgow’s southside. It’s an appointment that fits with our long-term strategy at Queen’s Park. I know that he cannot wait to get working on the training pitch and I’m looking forward to seeing how our team develops.”

Queen’s Director of Football Marijn Beuker said: “We were looking for a specific profile for our new Head Coach and took time to analyse different candidates. With Robin’s experience at two of Europe’s biggest clubs, his track record of developing young talents and the style his teams play in, he quickly became our ideal candidate.

“We have spoken extensively about the vision, style of play and providing opportunity to young players in the First Team. They were good conversations which are aligned with the direction this club wants to go in. I have no doubt Robin will help us further develop our vision in order to achieve our objectives.”

Robin Veldman commented: “From the first moment I contacted the club I got a warm feeling. Both Queen’s Park and I are hungry to perform well. Last season the club was close to promotion, but our goal is to achieve success with attractive, dominant football. That’s what we’re going for. The vision to field young players, in an attractive playing style, appeals to me enormously.”

Veldman’s coaching team at Queen’s Park will include Paul Nuijten, who joined the club last November from Willem II as the Head of Pro & Youth Program.
