QUEEN’S PARK FC is delighted to confirm the return of club captain Euan Murray on a two-year contract.
Crowned Players’ Player of the Year by his team-mates, and player of the year by the Queen’s Park Supporters’ Association, the skipper led the Spiders to sixth place in the William Hill Championship last term with some heroic defensive performances and crucial goals at the other end.
His contract renewal is the first confirmed by the club as first-team manager Sean Crighton rebuilds the squad for our fifth consecutive season in the William Hill Championship.
Sean said: “Arranging a contract extension for Euan was a priority this summer after the season he had for us last year.
“I brought him to the club last June and I knew what type of player, leader and character I was signing.
“Bringing the captain back is huge for us – he was a big part of the team’s success on and off the park last season and set the tone around the club.
“I’m very pleased to have him on board to build on our work together last year.”
Euan added: “Delighted is the word I’d use to describe how I’m feeling after signing this extension.
“I think everyone knows how much I enjoyed my football last season. I loved so many things about the club when I joined, it ticked so many boxes for where I am in my life right now so I am really happy to be here, and be here for another two years.
“The lads here have been excellent, the staff have been excellent and I feel we all came together last season as the manager had spoken about and hopefully we now carry that togetherness on moving forward into the new campaign.”
Since signing his own two-year contract as first-team manager Sean Crighton has been in talks with players ahead of the new season and pre-season training next month.
