DANIEL EDZII helped Queen’s Park under-19s add another win to their CAS Advanced Youth League points tally at Lochinch this week.
The forward headed the Spiders in front from a Cole Goldie cross then added a second just before the interval to give new 19s head coach Lee Mitchell a winning start to his tenure in charge of the squad.
Edzii’s brace could have been supplemented by further goals but for some impressive saves from visiting goalkeeper Joe Hastings.
Oli Preston was denied on the stroke of half-time from adding a third one-on-one and he did likewise to frustrate Logan Duffy in the second half.
However Lee Mitchell was please to get off the mark with a win in the dugout after succeeding Charley King in the role.
He said: “It was a really difficult opening to the game with Falkirk well organised and sitting in a defensive shape, making it difficult for us to break them down.
“A lot of missed opportunities from us made the scoreline tighter than what it probably should have been
“I thought we were guilty of taking too many touches in the first half hour, turning the ball over and allowing Falkirk to break.
“Once we’d gone ahead with Daniel’s goals and seen Oli Preston’s great chance, we took confidence and had lots more control in the second half and should have added more with a number of really good opportunities.
“Maybe we could have managed the game a little better in the final moments, but we were guilty of a few sloppy passes turning possession over which isn’t like us.
“Ultimately it’s a clean sheet and win against a really well organised Falkirk side, although I still feel we should have scored more goals to make it more comfortable than the scoreline suggests.”
