Queen’s Park v Gartcairn – Match preview

Queen’s Park face Gartcairn on Sunday, 14th of September in matchday 4 of the SWPL2 season at Kirkintilloch Community Sports Complex. Kick-off is at 1pm.

The Spiders return to action this afternoon as they host Gartcairn. Both teams have made strong starts to the season and are locked together in the table on 6 points after 3 matches.

It will be Queen’s Park’s first game in a fortnight due to not being involved in the SWPL Cup first round last weekend.

The Spiders have been a nightmare for defences in their last 2 outings as they have scored 12 goals. A 6-0 win against Livingston, and a 6-2 away win against St Johnstone.

Gartcairn were involved in the SWPL Cup last weekend and found the back of the net in the 113th minute to record a 1-0 win against Boroughmuir Thistle at Meadowbank.

Queen’s Park have just the one absentee this weekend, as in-form winger Dara Ositelu is on international duty with the Scotland U-17 squad.

Speaking ahead of the match, Iain Robinson said, “It’s good to get back following a week off after our bye in the cup.

“We’ve had two excellent results in our last two games, so we’re hoping to have a similar level of performance against Gartcairn.

“They’ve [Gartcairn] had an excellent start to the season and had a good result last week in the cup, so they will be full of confidence.

“They have good quality in their side and I know a lot of their players from having coached them previously.”
