Queen’s Park v Ross County – Live on TV – Match Preview

Queen's Park v Ross County - Live on BBC - match preview

THE city STADIUM hosts BBC Scotland cameras for the first time we welcome Ross County to the southside for Friday night football.

The sides met in September when a Josh Fowler double saw off the Staggies, who had Declan Gallagher sent off, for the Spiders’ first win of the season.

Since then they have also broken their home duck – winning the last match at Lesser Hampden 2-1 against Raith Rovers with Fowler again netting a brace.

The nation will be watching as will an anticipated capacity crowd inside the ground for the return of former Queen’s Park boss Callum Davidson – now Tony Docherty’s assistant in the Highlands.

Looking ahead

Sean Crighton’s head coach previews are sponsored by Glasgow Clyde College.

The head coach, and assistant Jim Duffy, are sponsored by PTS Clean this season.

Josh Fowler’s home shirt is sponsored by West End Foot Clinic.

The striker’s away and third kits are also available to sponsor – as are the 13-goal striker’s social media goal flashes. Contact kieran@queensparkfc.co.uk for more details.

Pre-match player interviews are sponsored by JJK Automotive Assessors.

The Season so far...

Ross County were widely expected to be one of the promotion hopefuls after dropping down from the William Hill Premiership in May.

However, it hasn’t panned out that way.

The Staggies parted company with Don Cowie at the start of the season and appointed Tony Docherty in the dugout.

The former Dundee boss added Callum Davidson to his coaching set-up, however the Staggies have still struggled for positive results and find themselves ninth – a point behind Sean Crighton’s Spiders who defeated the Dingwall side in September.

County were on the receiving end of another defeat at the Global Energy Arena last week when Morton scored three without reply while Queen’s Park pushed league leaders St Johnstone all the way in a 4-3 fightback defeat at McDiarmid Park.

Josh Fowler scored twice when the sides met last

A win for either won’t make much difference to the table though – with seventh placed Raith on 18 points, but defeat could see the losing side end the weekend bottom of the pile depending on Airdrie’s result against Ayr United.
