Queen’s Park Women Vs Aberdeen Women Preview

Queen’s Park will be aiming to bounce back from last Sunday’s 5–0 defeat against Hamilton Academical with a win at home to Aberdeen on Wednesday, 9th June in the twelfth round of the Scottish Building Society SWPL 2. The match kicks-off at 7PM, and will be played at the Nethercraigs Football Complex in Glasgow.

This weekend, Glasgow Women host Hamilton Academical at Greenfield Park, Partick Thistle travel to Perth to face St Johnstone at McDiarmid Park, Kilmarnock face Boroughmuir Thistle at Rugby Park, while Stirling University take on Dundee United at home. A list of the full fixtures can be found here

THE OPPOSITION

The most recent meeting between the two sides came in the SWPL 2 on Sunday, 1st November 2020. The match ended 5–1 to Aberdeen. Francesca Ogilvie, Eva Thomson and Bayley Hutchison were all on the scoresheet for the Dons, while Sophie McGoldrick scored her first goal for the Spiders. A full match report can be read here.

In the first part of the 2020/21 season, Aberdeen recorded 9 wins and only 1 loss; they scored 43 goals (the best attacking record in the SWPL 2) and conceded 10 (the best defensive record in the SWPL 2). Last Sunday, they picked up where they left off and defeated Stirling University 7–0 at Cormack Park, with the seven goals coming from five different goalscorers (Bailley Collins, Eva Thomson, Bayley Hutchison, Francesca Ogilvie and Jenna Penman). This will be another tough test for the Spiders, who will then head north to face Dundee United on Sunday, 13th June for their third match in the span of eight days.
