Queen’s Park Women vs Dundee United Women Preview

Queen’s Park Women are back in SWPL 2 action on Sunday, 8th November as they face Dundee United at home. The match kicks-off at 2:00 PM. Spectators are not permitted under current government guidelines.

THE LEAGUE

This weekend, Hamilton Academical travel up north to face St Johnstone at Tulloch Park, Stirling University host Boroughmuir Thistle, Glasgow Women face Aberdeen at New Tinto Park, while Partick Thistle travel to meet Kilmarnock at Rugby Park. A list of the full fixtures can be found here.

THE OPPOSITION

Last season (2019), Dundee United finished in third place, with 10 wins, 4 draws and 7 losses; they scored 46 goals (the sixth best attacking record in the SWPL 2) and conceded 30 (the third worst defensive record in the SWPL 2). 

Queen’s Park faced Dundee United in the SWPL Cup back in March; however, the 2020 season was declared null and void by SWF due to Covid-19.

Dundee United lost, 4–3, to Aberdeen in their first match of the 2020–21 SWPL 2 season. The three goals were scored by Tammy Harkin, Steffi Simson and Norwegian midfielder Stina Kleppe. They then drew, 1–1, against Partick Thistle in Glasgow, with Jade McLaren scoring the only goal for the visitors. McLaren was once again on the scoresheet in their 3–1 home win against Stirling University last weekend; Robyn Smith and Holly Napier scored the other two goals for United.
