Return to The National Stadium

Queen’s Park going ‘Back to the Future’ with a return to The National Stadium, Hampden Park

Queen’s Park’s Men’s First Team are going ‘Back to the Future’ and returning to south side of Glasgow for the first time since March 2020 to play two fixtures at the National Stadium, Hampden Park due to fixture clashes at Ochilview Park.

The Spiders will host Hamilton Academical on Saturday 3rd December in a cinch Championship meeting and will then play a SPFL Trust Trophy tie against Montrose seven days later. Both games will kick off at 3.00pm.

The return to The National Stadium will give Queen’s Park supporters the chance to cheer on the team in a ‘home game’ for the first time since March 2020 after stints at The Falkirk Stadium, Partick Thistle’s Firhill and Ochilview in Stenhousemuir.

The club are looking to move into their new home at Lesser Hampden in early 2023 and view these two games as a fantastic opportunity to strengthen their links with supporters before the newly developed ground re-opens.

Club President David Hunter said: “The return to The National Stadium will give Queen’s Park supporters the chance to cheer on the team in a south Glasgow venue for the first time since March 2020.

“A further update on our move to Lesser Hampden will be made as soon as possible and whilst there is still much work to do, our intention is to have that facility operational in January.”

The club would like to place on record our thanks to the SPFL and the Scottish FA for their support with these arrangements.

Full match arrangements for these games will be advised shortly.
