Sam Gibson Academy Player of the Month – March

Sam Gibson is the third winner of the 2023 Queen’s Park Academy Player of the Month with the under-16’s squad member the first goalkeeper to be recognised for their outstanding contribution.

The Award was brought in earlier this year to reward Academy players for their commitment to learning and for their contribution to creating a positive winning culture as well as being 100% committed to training and games.

Defenders Leo Clark and Jackson Barr were recognised earlier this year and Sam has been selected for March with under-16 coach Lee Mitchell explaining why by saying: “I am absolutely delighted to see Sam win the Player of the Month. His attitude, not only during training sessions but before, and after, each session is outstanding.

“Every day, Sam shows a real eagerness and willingness to learn and develop as a player and a person. He is a motivator to all his teammates and sets a fantastic example for all players within the Academy.”

As part of rewarding Sam for his efforts he stepped up to train with Head of Goalkeeping Glen Johnson as well as Calum Ferrie, Jacques Heraghty, Callan McKenna and Liam Russell

He was not out of place with Glen adding: “I am delighted for Sam, as he has worked extremely hard during our time working together. His attitude and application towards his goalkeeping development and football education has been impressive.

“He has been a credit to himself, family and football club.”
