Season 2024/ 25 has already kicked off for new Head of Recruitment David Stevenson

As part of Queen’s Park’s commitment to rearing their own talent David Stevenson has joined as the club’s Head of Recruitment.

David has stared his work for the new season already however he took time out to inform Spiders’ supporters what he brings to the role and what he is looking to deliver.

David said: “I have been in football for 20 years with my first job being as a Performance Analyst at Hearts. I had spells elsewhere including the Scottish FA for six years and Rangers for five before trying something different in a role at The University of Stirling.

“I had not really given football up as I was scouting for Arsenal whilst I was at the University of Stirling and when the chance to come back full-time to football at Queen’s Park I was delighted to take it.

“I came back as I am excited by the project and the potential at the club. Queen’s Park want to become the most attractive destination for any young footballer and having the first team in sight, as well as the progressive steps that are required to play at that level, mapped out and supported, helps with that.

“The Academy is an exciting place to work, and it is all about giving something back to the club. My role in that is helping identify High Potential young players that can play for our Pre-Academy all the way to the B Team and then be ready to progress further.”

David added: “Whilst I have the title of Head of Recruitment it is all about teamwork. I have to work well and have a close liaison with the Director of Football Darren O’Donnell, Tommy McIntyre who is the Head of the Academy and the Heads of the phases in the Academy.

“We will be looking at talent in Glasgow as well as other parts of Scotland and beyond, so I will be working with people in Grassroots teams in terms of making Queen’s Park that favoured destination.

“My season has started already as we will bringing in boys new to the club throughout the summer. I am looking forward to growing the squads and then seeing the players in action.”

Recently appointed Director of Football Darren O’Donnell is delighted to have David on board as he explained: “This is a vital appointment for Queen’s Park. There had been a big part missing within the club in terms of recruitment and that is across the board – from the Academy to the B Team and onto the First Team.

“The club have areas we can improve on and I see Recruitment as one of the most important departments that will support our short to long term vision for the club.”
