Queen’s Park can today confirm the signing of 25-year-old midfielder Darren Lyon.
Darren has spent most of his professional career at Hamilton Accademical and has made over 50 Premiership appearances for the Accies. Following a period at Peterborough United, Darren joined Queen of the South in August 2019 and last season made 23 appearances for the Doonhamers.
Head Coach Ray McKinnon said: “It’s excellent to have been able to bring Darren in and get the deal over the line. He will bring real quality to the midfield area through his great understanding and excellent reading of the game.”
“His experience speaks for itself when you look at the level he has already played at. He’s at a good age where he will continue to develop here.”
Speaking with the QP Media Team, Darren said: “I’m delighted to be here and to have joined a club with the ambition Queen’s Park has. I had a number of options to choose from, but the club ticked a lot of boxes for me, particularly in terms of the ambition and where the club wants to go.”
“It’s a very strong squad the club is assembling. I’ve played with and played against a few the boys, so I know what they are about and what they are capable of. I’m now just looking forward to getting going and to contribute as much as I possibly can over the course of the season.
Welcome to Queen’s Park, Darren!
