Squad Update – Contract Extensions

AHEAD of our first-team trip to Aberdeen in the Premier Sports Cup this weekend, Queen’s Park FC can provide the following squad update.

Our latest arrivals under the co-operation agreement with Rangers FC – Aiden McCallion and Lewis Stewart – have settled into the Spiders’ squad quickly, and both made their club debuts in the Premier Sports Cup victory over Kelty Hearts on Tuesday.

They were joined by loan signing from Kilmarnock, Ben Brannan, in his first start for Queen’s Park, and Oliver Fisher who stepped up from the under-19s to make his competitive first-team debut in Fife.

Oliver signed a contract extension in the summer and the club is delighted several of his under-19 team-mates from last season have done likewise.

Academy players Cole Goldie, Kyle Rodger, Daniel Edzii and Milosz Sliwinski have all extended their stays at the Spiders this summer following successful seasons with Lee Mitchell and Charley King’s under-19 and under-17s squads.

Cole, Kyle and Milosz each made first-team appearances last season while Daniel has been involved in pre-season friendlies in preparation for the new campaign.

First-team manager Sean Crighton said: “It’s important for our players to have a path into the first-team. Each deserves their new contract.

“There will be times where they’ll be with us in the first-team and others when they’ll be at the under-19s squad and we will continue reviewing their plan.

“Each has been brilliant since we came back for pre-season so we are really pleased with them all.

“Milosz went out on loan at Dumbarton aged 17, now he’s 19 and that two-year progression has really helped him. I’m delighted the big man has signed up again and he can push Jack Wills and David Mitchell in our goalkeeping group.

“David suffered a concussion shortly after he arrived so we are monitoring that but with Milosz signed he has been featuring in the team and playing well as part of the group.

“We also gave Cole and Kyle debuts last year and rightly so, they did so well for the 19s and for the 17s because they are still young enough to play for both age groups. Daniel is still eligible for the under-17s this season too.

“The young guys are receiving so much learning working with the first-team every day and they deserve it. Now we hope we can push them on.”

In addition to these extensions the club can also confirm Aiden McGinlay and Roddy Macgregor have moved on from the club following the expiry of their contracts, which ended during the close season.

Both are exploring other options and all at Queen’s Park wish both players well for their future careers. Each moves on with the club’s gratitude and appreciation for their time with The Spiders.
