Test event sees over 500 fans at Lesser

Queen’s Park would like to thank the 2022/23 Members and Season Ticket Holders (as well as their friends and family) for coming along to the Test Event at Lesser Hampden.

Over 500 people came along to watch two 45-minute bounce games involving players from Queen’s Park’s first team and Academy and also to form the first ever home crowd at the refurbished ground.

Everything appeared to go smoothly (with the atmosphere being turned up in-between the games when some FANTASTIC news was announced) however the club will now go through the feedback it has received from various channels to determine what worked well and what could do with a tweak before the next game at Lesser.

For the record books the first ‘bounce’ game in front of a crowd ended in a 4-0 success for Queen’s Park Reds over Queen’s Park Blacks however the score-line was not a reflection of the contest. Both sides created chances with the Reds proving more clinical with Ross McLean, Trialist, Josh Fitzpatrick and Connor Falls scoring.

The second game ended in a 1-1 draw with new recruits Ruari Paton and Barry Hepburn combining to allow red-shirted Hepburn to tap into the net after 11 minutes with the equaliser coming through Jack Thomson 11 minutes later.

Thomson swept the ball in from 12 yards from a cut-back after Archie Graham had denied the Blacks with a goalline clearance.

Our thanks also go to the security, catering staff and ball attendants and everyone else behind the scenes who were involved in helping with the Test Event
