Queen’s Park will have special visitors from Thornliebank Primary this Saturday after the School accepted the club’s offer to become our latest ‘Tickets for Schools’ partners.
Spiders midfielder Jack Turner was at the school last week to hand over tickets for Saturday’s meeting with Raith Rovers with the former Southampton youth player also providing scarves and t-shirts for the pupils before they provided him with a request!
Jack explained: “The Tickets for Schools Programme is a good programme from the club. A player visits the school before and after the game the children come to and as well as providing some merchandise, the players are asked a good number of questions by the pupils.
“In fact, I have been asked to do a certain goal celebration if I score one goal and another goal celebration if I score two. I had to explain that as a midfielder I do not always get shots in on goal but if I have to do two specific celebrations against Raith Rovers then it will not just be the pupils that will be pleased.”
Their pupils will be picked up in East Renfrewshire and taken to the game by club partners McDades before the Coach Company takes them home with Queen’s Park’s Head of Commercial Kieran Koszary adding: “It is only right that I thank our Head Coach Robin Veldman and his players for the time they put into the Tickets for Schools Programme. Some clubs ask their players to go along once to local schools but we have a squad that are happy to go along twice, and also get fully involved in answering questions.
“The schools feel a real sense of partnership as a result.”
