Journalists Max Rozenko and Daniil Tikhomirov visited Queen’s Park at the end of last season to take in the game versus Airdrieonians and learn more about the club’s history and involvement in the first Scottish Cup Final 150 years ago.
Their work was published on the Ukrainian website Champion and the duo returned to Queen’s Park last week along with a group of fellow Ukrainians who are part of the 20,000 refugees who have moved to Scotland as a result of the conflict in their homeland.
The party of 20 were given complimentary tickets by the club as well as Black and White scarves for the Friendly against Celtic with Kieran Koszary, Head of Commercial saying: “I visited Kyiv in October 2006, when the Ukrainian national team played against Scotland and despite our defeat that day I have very warm memories from that trip.
“It was fitting to repay the hospitality I enjoyed but inviting some of the Ukrainian community in Scotland to our game with Celtic. I hope they enjoyed it, there were certainly plenty of goals and excitement.”
