Wee Spiders see off Livingston

LOGAN DUFFY hit a double as Queen’s Park under-17s defeated Livingston to stay top of the CAS Advanced Youth League.

Lee Mitchell’s Wee Spiders were three goals to the good by the break and remain first ahead of Partick Thistle in the table.

Kicking off at a quick pace, the Spiders soon found their stride and settled to take a firm grip of the game.

Duffy hit a double in addition to a goal for Kyle Rodger and, in truth, it could have been more on volume of chances alone.

Livingston tightened the game at half-time and made life more difficult for the visitors in the second half, but the Spiders still managed to find a fourth through Luke Moore before Livi pulled a late consolation back.

Coach Mitchell said: “This was a really good result against a team that had only lost one match so far in the league. 

“We were able to enjoy some more controlled possession once the game settled down, but I am disappointed to concede late in the game and not get the clean sheet.

“Overall though, this was a strong disciplined performance from the team and probably could have been more convincing if we were a little more clinical in front of goal.”
