Queen’s Park have agreed to secure the services of a second former Southampton player with defender Will Tizzard joining midfielder Jack Turner in Glasgow’s southside from July 1 on a three-year contract.
The 20-year-old Bristol born centre back has spent more than 10 years with Southampton after joining them from his local side Coalpit Heath and he reckons that the coaching he received from his dad and grandfather helped him be scouted and then signed by the Saints.
Tizzard played at all Academy Age Groups for Southampton as well as their under-18 and B teams where he was recognised as the club’s 2020/21 Scholar of the Year award after an impressive season.

First team experience was gained during two loan spells with Chippenham Town this season with Will looking forward to being part of a club with a plan as he explained: “I would like to start by thanking Queen’s Park for showing faith in me as a player and giving me this opportunity to be part of something special.
“I cannot wait to meet all the lads in the dressing room and get on the pitch. The club has an amazing vision and direction, as well as a clear identity. These were massive reasons for me signing and why I believe it is the perfect place for me. I will do all I can to help everyone achieve our goals and I look forward to putting on the shirt for the first time.”
Queen’s Park’s Director of Football Marijn Beuker said: “We are very happy with the signing of Will Tizzard as he is a great addition to our defensive unit. He is tall, defensively strong and a leader on the pitch but equally he is very comfortable and calm on the ball, which helps us to build up.
“For a team who want to be dominant and in possession of the ball, these are important elements to have in a central defender.”
