With the recent appointment of new coaching staff, which brought with it a review into the structure of the Queen’s Park Academy, it has been decided to transfer away from using the ‘Young Queen’s Park’ name and move to calling the team that competes in reserve fixtures ‘Queen’s Park B’.
The change will come into effect before the SPFL Reserve League match with Dunfermline Athletic on Tuesday, January 30 with Club President Graeme Shields saying: “When the name change was suggested it was an easy choice to make as we feel it represents where the B Team sits within the structure of the club.”
Academy Director Tommy McIntyre added: “There were a number of names suggested during this part of the review. We looked into names that were used in the past and we were respectful of them however we felt that the B Team name was the way to go.
“Using the B Team name works across a number of leagues in Europe and I am looking forward to developing the Queen’s Park ‘B’ team and name.”
