QUEEN’S PARK is pleased to announce the return of Zach Mauchin on a new contract.
The right-sided defender has spent a frustrating year on the sidelines for the Spiders but is back fit and raring to go again for season 2026-27.
Mauchin’s last match was a home defeat at Hampden to Airdrieonians in April last year but he is itching to return to competitive action after penning an extension.
Zach said: “I’m absolutely buzzing to be here. The gaffer spoke to me and wanted me back this season which I was delighted to hear.
“After missing last season I was gutted, but I’m fit and happy to be back.
“Any footballer will tell you it’s frustrating being injured. You’re lonely and it’s hard but you need to get through it. I’m glad I am and I’m looking forward to joining up with the squad.
“They had a great time last season and though I felt a bit out of it being unable to play it was good to be around and I’m looking forward to playing a more active part this season.”
First-team manager Sean Crighton added: “As an academy player, I wanted to give Zach an opportunity to find his fitness and get over his injury.
“He was always an upbeat figure around the place and showed the attitude to get back to fitness and he has bulked up in the gym to reach the standard required to come back.
“That attitude showed his professionalism for a young player.
“I feel I know what I can get from Zach and we can get the best from him. Carlo [Pignatiello] has been excellent in that position but now we have competition there.
“Zach is adaptable in a number of positions like Carlo too and, as an Academy player, it’s important we protect our own and keep that coming through the club as best we can.”
